Now believe me when I say that I understand that there are few states out there that can compete with Minnesota for snow. I understand that when other states get snow, they might not be used to it and freak out a little bit…but for snow flurries?
Last night right before we head out for church, it starts to sleet. Caleb says jokingly “Wouldn’t it be funny if they cancelled church because of this?” Not but a minute after he says that, Driver gets a phone call saying that church is cancelled. Then later that night, we found out that school is cancelled for tomorrow, which means that work is shut down. Doesn’t really matter though because every Thursday is our “Flex Day” and I choose to do work from home. I couldn’t believe it. Granted, the snow did start falling pretty good and sticking, but not to the roads. Caleb and I decided to drive around a little bit and stopped at McDonald’s because we both had a gift card. It was funny watching the people stare at us getting out of the car, Caleb with shorts on and me with a t-shirt on. I’m pretty sure they thought we were crazy. I think my night was complete when Ashley King (a.k.a. Florida) came downstairs knocking on our door yelling, “The snow makes a crunching noise under my feet!” Gotta love the South.
So today is our Flex Day, or a day where we choose what we do, work wise. People can get really worked up about it and get all nervous that we aren’t doing anything. It doesn’t bother me too much though, because really it should be between God and I, and I shouldn’t really have to prove anything to anyone…at least I don’t think. I really have been digging into Romans and reading about how amazing our God really is! It is a phrase that is used a lot and sometimes overlooked. As a kid who has gone to church my whole life, it has been great just to re-read and evaluate it from a more mature point of view. He has been so faithful to me and I know as long as I keep my eyes on Him, who can stand in my way?
